Joey Stempien hails from Rochester, NY, where he has established himself as a promising young figure in the realm of jazz composition and arrangement. Publishing his first professional composition for jazz ensemble at age 17, Joey has continued to make significant strides in the music industry, with his works now resonating with audiences on an international scale.

Within the contemporary music landscape, Joey has been crafting a distinctive artistic voice, skillfully weaving contemporary harmonic complexity into the time-honored traditions of jazz and fusion. His compositions are characterized by visceral and emotive melody, as well as unique approaches to ensemble scoring. These compositions are now part of the repertoire of professional ensembles throughout the United States, such as US Navy Commodores, and have been performed by acclaimed soloists including Carlos Eiene, Jon Hatamiya, Isaac Romagosa, and Bill Tiberio.

In addition, Joey is an active participant in the Rochester music community, and a frequent performer on jazz piano, woodwinds, and percussion. While pursuing his B.A. in Music at the University of Rochester, he helms the Joey Stempien Big Band, a collective of Rochester-area musicians performing his original music.
